Sofia Vergara reveals the terrible after-effects of playing Griselda Blanco
The Colombian actor uncovered the secrets of her role in the Netflix series
Sofía Vergara is the talk of the town for her role as Griselda Blanco in the series that will premiere on Netflix on 25 January 2024. The Colombian actor spent the last week on a media tour of her native country and told all the secrets behind her role as the notorious drug trafficker.
Upon her arrival, the Netflix platform made a huge push to let the public know about the new series that will debut in just a few days. There was even a poster with which the star herself took a photo and on which you could read the message: “Sofía Vergara is beautiful, but even more beautiful in Colombia”.
In the media tour that followed, she left several phrases and details of what it has meant for her to do this challenging work. In an interview with NotiCentro 1 of the CM& channel, she revealed the sacrifices it demanded of her, the main one having to do with her physical appearance.
“We did a lot of make-up tests because I had to put on a wig, a nose, cover my eyebrows, my teeth, I had to flatten my bust, my buttocks so that they wouldn’t move, so that I wouldn’t look like me”, she confessed during this interview.
Vergara admits that she had to make all kinds of efforts to make viewers see another person different from the role that has characterized her for much of her career as Gloria Pritchett in ‘Modern Family’.
What injuries does she have?
Getting into the skin of Griselda Blanco was a priority for her, which is why she didn’t hesitate to take on several efforts that, as she admits, could leave her with scars for life.

“I damaged my back for life,” she said. “This arose from adopting an unhealthy position when standing up.
“I invented a way of standing, I lasted 6 months in this very strange position of my body at the age of 50. And I thought that I was walking perfectly.”
This “position” caused her to suffer physical pain until one day she got out of bed and saw that she couldn’t take it anymore.
“They had to inject me, I damaged a vertebra and now it bothers me all the time,” she continued.
It was not only physical suffering for the Colombian actor, playing one of the most difficult roles of her life as Griselda Blanco. She also recognizes that she had to deal with the process of remembering all the years of the cartel war that the country suffered and that she herself lived through.
