WTA Berlin: Coco Gauff Relies on Her Comfort Zone in Doubles as Jessica Pegula’s Arrival Restarts Golden Partnership

Coco Gauff recently surprised fans by earning her first doubles grand slam title. While her singles run at Roland Garros was hindered by the champion Iga Swiatek, she didn’t let her hopes down and lifted the doubles trophy alongside Katerina Siniakova. Although her partnership with the new companion proved to be productive, she still decided to turn back to her compatriot.

The clay court days are finally over for this year. Like all other players on tour, Coco Gauff is also looking forward to testing her levels on the grass courts. Starting up with the tournament in Berlin, she decided to regather the strong force with her doubles partner Jessica Pegula.

The event recently announced its draws in which Coco Gauff can be seen placed alongside compatriot and her regular doubles partner Jessica Pegula. But wait, this isn’t everything to be excited about. As she’s set to return to her previous companion, draws show a dramatic first showdown for Pegula and Gauff.

Katerina Siniakova, who backed the young American to lay hands on her first doubles grand slam trophy, is set to be her opening match rival in Germany. Playing alongside Linda Noskova, it is evident that the duo would pose a tough challenge.

Gauff’s decision to get back with Pegula seems to be justified. In a notable period that the duo shared together on the courts, they managed to secure five WTA Tour titles, including three at the WTA Masters 1000 events. Extending their dominance to bigger stages, Pegula and Gauff also made it to the finals at Roland Garros back in 2022. As they have decided to stick together once again, it could possibly be a sign of even better things coming their way.

Jessica Pegula envisions the Olympic dream alongside Coco Gauff
Coco Gauff’s partnership with Jessica Pegula has been quite fruitful so far. As they are set to test their chemistry at the Paris Olympics, Pegula seems to be quite excited. In a recent conversation, Coco Gauff expressed her desire to secure an Olympic gold. “A gold medal is a gold medal, where I feel like the Grand Slams is definitely way cooler to win a singles one than a doubles one,” she said, having understood the difference between a major title and an Olympic medal at such a young age.

Affirming with Gauff’s dream to secure a win at the Olympics, Jessica Pegula showed confidence in their partnership. “You don’t usually see a lot of players playing, but for us I think we enjoy it. To us it’s kind of fun that we get to go out and even if we lose singles or whatever happens, go out and it’s another chance to compete,” the 30-year-old said.
