Travis Kelce makes it clear that he is not adopting Patrick Mahomes’ ‘dad bod’ lifestyle with the Chiefs
Mahomes’ figure continues to be the source of intrigue
Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes have struck up the kind of partnership and camaraderie that has inspired envy around the NFL. The Chiefs’ dynamic tight end-quarterback tandem has combined to win three Super Bowls together, with hopes for further success in 2024 as Kansas City tries to become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowl titles — but due to a complicated offseason, the Chiefs will need to work to minimize distractions as the season draws closer.
Fortunately for Chiefs Kingdom, Mahomes and Kelce are experts in keeping the mood light and humorous, as they displayed once again at a recent charity event held in Kansas City. The history-making duo will need to dive deep into their bag of tricks to keep their Chiefs teammates engaged and motivated going into training camp.
Mahomes struggles with his jersey…and so does Kelce!
Mahomes and Kelce appeared at the Big Slick 2024 charity event, in support of Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. The star-studded event counted actors Paul Rudd and Jason Sudeikis among its hosts, but much of the excitement centered on the Chiefs stars — and what happened when they tried to pull on their jerseys.
Granted, Mahomes and Kelce were wearing more-formal attire befitting the occasion, making it difficult to put on their red Chiefs jerseys. But as Mahomes struggled to put his on, claiming it was “dad bod season,” Kelce quickly chimed in and chided his teammate for the excuse.
“I have no kids,” Kelce said, referencing Mahomes’ children Bronze and Sterling while requiring assistance to put his own jersey on. “This is just what it looks like at 35.”
Kelce turns 35 in October and is a testament to rigorous physical preparation. The Chiefs would not have felt comfortable making him the highest-paid tight end in football this spring if they did not believe that Kelce would continue to exercise discipline and embrace professionalism as he aged. But he too is proof that Father Time comes for everyone.
As for Mahomes, the debate will continue to rage over his unusual frame and body type. But the two-time league MVP continues to dominate, especially when the lights are brightest — and he still has time before the new season begins to shed a few extra pounds if he needs to.
