Sofía Vergara Explains how New Colombian Coffee Line Highlighting help the Legacy of Female Growers

The self-proclaimed ‘coffee connoisseur’ is releasing three roasts, blended by a team of all-female coffee farmers

Sofía Vergara wants you to wake up with a warm “abrazo de abuela” (grandma’s hug) or a strong zip of “the energy running through Latin veins” — but how? With her new coffee line, of course.

Originating from the mountains of Colombia and dubbed “¡DÍOS MIO!”, the new fair trade brand launched with three roasts, blended by a team of all-female coffee growers. The name translates to “My God!” in English, which Vergara says is “a common expression used by Latinos when discovering the perfect taste and flavor,” according to a press release.

The Modern Family alum partnered with the Federación Nacional de Cafeteros (The National Federation of Coffee Growers, or “FNC”) to source high-quality Colombian coffee beans that support local farmers and suppliers for the blends, available as ground coffee in a light, medium and dark roast. Available on Walmart.com now, each ¡DÍOS MIO! Coffee bag is 12 oz. and you can choose from a single pack, two-pack, or a three-pack.

The actress says that each blend pays tribute to the “qualities and characteristics of Colombian women,” from the Balance medium roast, which features rich notes of nuts, white chocolate, and brown sugar (inspired by the mujeres (women) who gracefully balance work, family, and passion for coffee), to the cocoa-infused and smoky flavor in the Dark Roast, inspired by the fuerza (strength) of the women in farming

As a self-proclaimed “coffee connoisseur,” Vergara says she wanted to release this coffee line not only to honor her Colombian heritage, but pay tribute to the history of Colombian women working in the coffee industry.

“¡DÍOS MIO! COFFEE comes from my love of Colombian coffee and my high standards when it comes to the quality of my coffee,” says Co-Founder Vergara in a statement. “I grew up in Colombia, drinking Colombian coffee. We have spent the last few years creating these blends with an amazing team of female coffee growers behind us. Women represent 30% of Colombian coffee growers, and it’s an honor to highlight their families and legacies through ¡DÍOS MIO! COFFEE.”
