Serena Williams’ Husband Alexis Ohanian Makes Emotional Confession About Staying Unfiltered and Authentic to Daughter Olympia

Many successful fathers may regret not spending time with their children and family. But not Alexis Ohanian. He made sure to be there for them from the very start. Remember how he took a paid paternity leave when his first daughter, Olympia, was born? Serena Williams already had to deal with an emergency C-section and pulmonary embolism after that. She was bed-bound after multiple operations and Ohanian had to care for Olympia for the first few weeks of her life.

The Reddit co-founder shares a close bond with his 6-year-old daughter and often shares glimpses of it on his social media handles. Recently, he shared some unknown details about his bond with Olympia. What did he share?

Ohanian is very active on social media and also features in numerous podcasts. During an interaction on the ‘Business Dad’ podcast on Tuesday, the Reddit co-founder revealed, “I try to keep it 100 with Olympia, always. I don’t think I’ve ever, like capital L, lied to her. Like I’ve made an effort to be like Papa’s always gonna be honest with you.”

Ohanian can often be found engrossed in different activities with Olympia. Be it preparing morning breakfast (think about artistic pancakes) or playing different games, the Alexis-Olympia pair spends a lot of time together. Playful as ever, Ohanian further went on to reveal an interesting conversation with Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.

He added, “You know, one of the things I told her was like, Look, papa and mama don’t know everything. But then, of course, her six-year-old mind is like, ‘Wait, so so like, I don’t need to always listen to you?’ And I’m like, ‘No, you do. You need to listen to us. And also know that we don’t know everything.’ And she’s like, ‘that doesn’t make any sense, Papa.’ And I’m like, ‘I know’.”

In fact, he said something similar in 2020. “I definitely don’t have all the answers, but my experience on leave gave me the confidence that I can figure it out.” Spending more time with his daughter, rocking her to sleep, changing diapers, etc. gave him the assurance that he could figure things out.

Further, he tries his best for his family, and he wants other fathers to follow suit. Ohanian regularly provokes conversations around family and fatherhood and, as per him, a father should have a few rituals or routines with their children. This can help create a positive experience for both the parents and the children.
