Rihanna Sets Record For Most Diamond Singles By A Female Artist
The singer counts seven RIAA diamond-certified tracks.
Rihanna makes history, once again. Last week (May 31), the mother of two earned four new diamond certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) setting a record for female artists. The new recognitions bring Rih’s diamond record count to seven, counting the most diamond singles for a female artist, and the most diamond-certified titles for a female artist.
“Needed Me,” “Work,” (feat. Drake) “Umbrella,”(feat. JAY-Z), and “Stay” (feat. Mikky Ekko), all joined the diamond club at the end of last month. In April, the tracks “We Found Love” and the aptly named “Diamonds” hit the career achievement. Previously, her song “Love the Way You Lie,” which features Eminem, earned a diamond plaque in May 2013.
“ain’t no back n forth,” wrote the 36-year-old on X, sharing the landmark achievement.
While the Grammy-winning artist makes history in the music industry, she has not dropped a proper album since 2016’s ANTI. The acclaimed project features the aforementioned diamond-certified Drake collaboration.
“It’s gonna be amazing,” shared the Barbados-native when detailing anticipated new music to EXTRA in April. Rihanna still has not set a release date for any new album or single.
“It has to be — that is the only reason it’s not out yet. If I’m not feeling it, and I’m not feeling like it represents the evolution, the time I spent away. There should be a show of growth, right? I want to play, and I feel like music is a playground, and I want to have fun with it and show truly where I am at.”
The singer has kept busy with her billion-dollar businesses SAVAGE X Fenty, and Fenty Beauty, which also sells Fenty Skin products. She also released the ballad “Lift Me Up,” featured in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, in October 2022.
