Prince William won’t wait long to become King

King Charles III’s eldest son Prince William, who’s heir apparent to the British throne, has reportedly begun the final preparations for his destined royal role.

“The Prince of Wales knows he will not have to wait long to become King,” a royal insider has claimed.

King Charles – who was officially crowned along with his wife Princess Kate on may 6, 2023 at Westminster Abbey in London – acceded to the British throne on 8 September 2022 following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Prince William and Prince Harry’s father Charles had been first in the line of succession for 70 years 214 days, making him the longest heir-apparent ever. His record-breaking wait for the throne began when he was three years old, on 6 February 1952, the day his mother became Queen.

Charles’s great-great-grandfather Edward VII previously held the record as he had to wait for 59 years 73 days to take the throne, eventually doing so on 22 January 1901 upon the death of his mother, Queen Victoria.

The source continued: “William, however, has some more tasks to accomplish before becoming the King.”

They added: “It does not seem that the King will abdicate as William has no intention to wear the crown in King’s life as he wants his dad to continue.”

However, some historians and fortune tellers believe that the King will abdicate when he’s 80. And then Camilla can retire to Balmoral and leave the show to William and Princess Kate, who’s showing progress after her preventative chemotherapy following cancer diagnosis.

The Prince was put through years of training to ensure the survival of the British monarchy under his two teachers, King Charles III and the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The king still “tends to worry himself” with thoughts about whether William is ready to take his place as King, according, an insider previously told Touch Weekly.

Now, William is stepping in for his cancer-stricken father to attend important events. As heir-apparent, Charles also undertook several official duties on behalf of the Queen. He reportedly completed more than 10,000 official engagements between 2002 and 2022.
