Prince Harry set to inherit millions of pounds next month but will be a ‘small bonus’ for Meghan and the duke
The money comes from a trust fund that the Queen Mother set up for her grandchildren
Prince Harry will inherit millions of pounds when he turns 40 next month, an amount that will be just a “small bonus” for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a royal expert has claimed.
The 39-year-old will inherit a whopping £7million from his great-grandmother for the landmark birthday.
The money comes from a trust fund that the Queen Mother set up for her grandchildren – she put the majority of her estimated £70m wealth into it and Harry’s share is around 10 per cent.
The Queen Mother, who died in 2001, now may not be so thrilled with the fact that the substantial sum is being passed to Harry, following his fallout with the Royal Family.
Royal correspondent Jennie Bond believes that Harry’s great grandmother would be dismayed to learn of the feud, given her particularly close bond with Harry, who he referred to as “Gan Gan”.
She told OK! Magazine: “The Queen Mother loved her great grandchildren…and they adored her sense of humour.”
Bond went on to describe how she would often do impressions of some of her great-grandchildren’s favourite characters which would have them in stitches.
“But,” she continued, “I’m afraid the Queen Mother would have been mightily disappointed to see history repeating itself as Harry fell in love with a divorced American woman and then left royal life and went to live abroad… almost in exile, like her brother in law King Edward VIII, who abdicated for the love of Wallis Simpson.”
