The 77-year-old musician and poet recently put on a show in Dublin, Ireland, when she referenced Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, which famously mentions Smith by name in the lyrics.
In the title track of TTPD, Swift, 34, sings, “You’re not Dylan Thomas, I’m not Patti Smith / This ain’t the Chelsea Hotel / We’re modern idiots.”
