Ons Jabeur reveals why she was ‘jealous’ of Coco Gauff recently after what happened in training
Ons Jabeur is one of tennis’ most exciting and affable figures, but in 2024, titles have been few and far between.
Yet to smile with a trophy in hand, she failed to make her mark at the start of the season, struggled on the clay, and will now be out for revenge, having lost the last two Wimbledon finals in a row on the grass.
It is undoubtedly her favourite surface, especially if her Grand Slam performance is anything to go off.
And, much of that success is owed to a few key shots. However, she does wish that she could borrow one weapon from a fellow top-ten star.
Ons Jabeur admits to being ‘jealous’ of Coco Gauff
Whilst many players on the WTA would have every right to be jealous of Coco Gauff, given the quality that the 20-year-old boasts at such a young age, Jabeur is not far away.
Naturally, that sole Grand Slam title is the key difference between the two, but the American is also in possession of a few weapons that most of her peers would desire.
The Tunisian would hone in on one trait in particular just yesterday, although it was the manner in which she went about acquiring it that truly sparked jealousy.
Speaking on Sky Sports, they asked many of the top players on tour who they thought boasted the best serve.
Jabeur offered a few options, but Gauff stood out because of the teaching she had been given by a certain Andy Roddick.
She noted: ‘The serve, Sabalenka, Rybakina, Coco also has a good serve. And she trained with Andy Roddick, I was a little bit jealous!’
