Lilibet receives touching birthday gift from King Charles despite Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal feud
King Charles has given his granddaughter Princess Lilibet a special gift for her third birthday, according to a royal expert.
The toddler enjoyed a private birthday bash at her home in Montecito, attended by family and friends alike over the weekend. However, no members of the Royal Family were present at the celebrations, amid an ongoing feud between the Sussexes and the firm.
Despite the recent tension, the King was still keen to reach out to his granddaughter to mark the special occasion.
Royal expert Tom Quinn said: “King Charles had no intention of completely ignoring Lilibet’s birthday so he has sent a gift along with a message.”
Whilst the content of the gift is unknown, Lilibet can expect an even grander gift from her grandfather once the feud between the family dies out.
Quinn told The Mirror: “He gave Prince George a beautiful hand-made wooden swing with George’s name carved on it and he has plans to give something similar to Lilibet but not this year. And not unless and until the family feud dies down.”
Born in California, the three-year-old was named after Queen Elizabeth’s family nickname, whilst her middle name, Diana, “was chosen to honour her beloved late grandmother, the Princess of Wales”.
Her parents have tried to keep herself and her brother Archie, five, out of the limelight ever since they stepped down as working royals and settled in the US.
The only insight into the children’s birthdays the public has seen has been from the Sussexes’ docuseries, Harry & Meghan, released in 2022 on Netflix. In the six-part series, footage from previous parties held for Archie and Lilibet can be seen.
Quinn reported that the bash over the weekend was attended by stars such as Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, who are neighbours of Harry and Meghan. However, no invites was handed out to the Royal Family.
He said that one of Harry’s friends claimed that the Duke did not invite them because he did not think they would come anyway.
The relationship between Harry and the rest of his family has been strained since he and Meghan released a Netflix series and sat down for an interview with Oprah criticising aspects of the Royal Family.
