King Charles fails to fill Prince Harry void with growing William bond
King Charles ‘incredibly sad’ of lost bond with Prince Harry despite growing bond with Prince William
King Charles may be growing closer to Prince William but he is still heartbroken about his strained ties with estranged son, Prince Harry.
The Duke of Sussex, who visited London for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, could not meet his cancer-stricken father, given his full diary of programme.
Despite the bitter snub to Harry, the monarch still seems to long for a relationship with his son and his two small children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, per former BBC correspondent Jennie Bond.
“I believe that the King will always leave the door open for Harry,” Bond told OK! Magazine. “I’m sure he still loves his ‘darling boy’, but the time has to be right and at the moment the King’s focus is on getting well again as soon as possible and fulfilling as many diary engagements as his health allows.”
She explained that there’s “no doubt” that Charles is “incredibly sad about his broken relationship with Harry and, of course, his almost non-existent relationship with his two grandchildren in California.”
However, the King “sent out a clear message when he did not have time to meet Harry” since he needs to focus on his treatment and recovery.
“Charles is a very emotional man and it may be that the pressure of trying to untangle a complicated relationship with Harry right now is just not something he should be tackling when he is also fighting cancer.”
The monarch was reportedly closer to Harry since William was more involved with his wife Kate Middleton’s family.
Meanwhile, Charles and William are continuing to grow closer as they “confide their feelings and fears to one another” in their shared troubles.
