I turned Coco Gauff into winning machine, Andre Agassi called me ‘greatest coach’, and even gave lessons to Zendaya

Coco Gauff has been turned into a winning machine over the last year and the secret to her success has been sitting in her box at the French Open.

That is of course her coach, Brad Gilbert, who has been working with the American since July 2023.

Under Gilbert’s tutelage, Gauff has already won her maiden Grand Slam at the US Open last September.

She’s now through to the French Open semi-finals, where she faces her nemesis Iga Swiatek.

Gauff has historically struggled against Swiatek, with an unenviable 10-1 losing record against the world number one.

Gilbert can take plenty of credit – with the 20-year-old guaranteed to achieve her career highest ranking of number 2 after Roland Garros.

American Gilbert himself was a handy player, reaching number four in the world and winning bronze at the 1988 Olympics.

However, it is as a coach he has achieved widespread acclaim having worked with some of the greatest players of the last 30 years.

He started working with Andre Agassi in 1994 and was in his box for six of his eight Grand Slam victories.
