Gypsy Rose Blanchard Thanks Kim Kardashian for Hearing Her Out Despite Being ‘Too Controversial’ (Exclusive)

Their meeting comes after Gypsy Rose sent Kim a private message in hopes of getting involved in prison reform after her own release from jail in December 2023

For Kim Kardashian, there’s no topic too difficult to handle — including Gypsy Rose Blanchard.

In PEOPLE’s exclusive sneak peek at Thursday’s episode of The Kardashians, Kim made the trip to New Orleans for a one-on-one meeting with Gypsy. While discussing her incarceration, Gypsy reveals she had steak for the first time after her recent release before getting down to business.

“Well honestly, I’ve been following your case for a really long time,” Kim begins. “So, I wouldn’t want to come in and really meet with someone that I feel like can really make an impact just for the sensation of the case.”

She acknowledges that the Life After Lockup star could “make a big difference” when it comes to prison reform because she can “really articulate what you went through and how you can get through it.”

Gypsy returns her compliments and takes a moment to give Kim “massive kudos” for working with her and helping her get involved in prison reform.

“I think a lot of people are afraid of touching me as a topic, because I’m too controversial,” she admits to Kim’s surprise.

Being no stranger to making headlines, Kim waves off Gypsy’s reservations while she continues to give “massive props for being like, ‘okay, I’m going to come do this right now.’ This is going to happen.”

Gypsy was charged with being involved with the killing of her mother Dee Dee in June 2015. Her then-boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, was also charged with the slaying at the time.

After the arrests, it was discovered that Dee Dee subjected Gypsy to unnecessary medical treatments and convinced her daughter and others that her daughter had a litany of illnesses as a child. In court, it was argued Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a form of child abuse that involves a guardian exaggerating or inducing illness to gain sympathy.
