Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour was set to feature three shows at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna from August 8 to August 10.
However, on August 7, Austrian authorities arrested two men suspected of plotting a terrorist attack on these concerts.
The suspects were reportedly planning to use explosives and knives to cause mass casualties, leading to the cancellation of the shows for safety reasons
According to Austrian officials, the main suspect had sworn allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) online and had been radicalized through the internet.
Chemical substances were discovered during a search of his apartment. The authorities’ statement noted that both suspects had taken concrete steps towards carrying out the attack.
In response to the confirmed threat, Barracuda Music announced the cancellation of all three planned shows via the official Taylor Nation Instagram account. The statement emphasized the need to prioritize the safety of concertgoers.
