Express Sport brings you all of the latest news from the French Open.

It’s women’s final day at the French Open with the trophy now in sight for the four players left in the tournament in the women’s and men’s draws. Novak Djokovic’s withdrawal means a new male champion will be crowned this year while Iga Swiatek seeks a third successive success against Jasmine Paolini today (2pm).

In the semi-finals, Swiatek cruised past Coco Gauff in straight sets while Paolini turned on the style to make light work of Mirra Andreeva, also winning in straight sets.

Swiatek won this Grand Slam in 2020, 2022 and 2023 and still only 22, will have Chris Evert’s total of seven triumphs in her sights if she wins again today. Paolini is the polar opposite and before this French Open had never progressed past the fourth round of a Major, having got to round four of the Australian Open earlier this year.

For the men’s trophy, Carlos Alcaraz will do battle with Alexander Zverev in the men’s final tomorrow.

Iga Swiatek has shared an emotional message after winning her third consecutive French Open today.

The Polish world No. 1 is now a five-time Grand Slam winner at the age of 23.

She wrote on Instagram: “It doesn’t get more challenging than this. To stay disciplined for so many weeks, to focus on the right things, be here and now.

“But at the same time to enjoy life, to be happy, content. I’m so proud and grateful for my team, family, all the support – you have no idea. But yeah…I want to say it out loud. This.was.something.else.”

Mate Pavic reacts to French Open win
Mate Pavic was overcome with emotion after making history in the men’s doubles French Open final today.

He said: “Well, the day started slow. It was a little bit stressful waiting for the match. It was a big match.

“Yeah, I don’t know. Don’t know what to say. For me, it feels really, really special. Like I said there, I lost two finals already here, and I was in the third today.

“Yeah, it was something that I missed, the title here, and I really wanted to win it. Yeah, it was not easy to play. It was a lot of emotions and everything.

“So I’m super happy to have that achievement now in my career. Yeah, I’m still not really aware of what happened.”
